Contact Dr Tommaso Piovesan
Background
Dr Tommaso Piovesan is a Research Fellow in Propulsion Aerodynamics at the Centre of Propulsion and Thermal Power Engineering, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. He holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Padua, Italy. In 2019, he joined ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ as a postgraduate intern (Erasmus+ Traineeship) at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) for Aero Systems Design, Integration, and Performance, later working as a full-time research assistant on fan-intake aerodynamics.
In 2020, he started pursuing his PhD at the Rolls-Royce UTC for Aero Systems Design, Integration, and Performance. He was awarded a doctorate in Aerodynamics and Unsteady Flow Distortion in a Short Aero-engine Intake under Crosswind in 2024. Since 2019, Dr Tommaso Piovesan has contributed as both a PhD student and research assistant to various research programs, including the EU-funded NIFTI (Non-Intrusive Flow Distortion Measurements within a Turbofan Intake) project and iFAN (Integrated Fan Technologies) project.
His research interests include aero-engine aerodynamics, performance, CFD modeling, wind tunnel experiments, and flow visualization techniques.
